Tyler Wilson, B.Sc. Biology and Earth Science combined, Ocean Science minor.
I am currently in Colombia participating in an Internship through Dalhousie’s Marine Affairs Program. My placement is with the Caribbean and Adjacent Region (IOCARIBE) regional alliance of the Global Ocean Observing System (GOOS) which reports to the Intergovernmental Oceanographic Commission (IOC) of UNESCO. The funding for my internship is through the Canadian International Development Agency (CIDA)’s International Youth Internship Program (IYIP) – Which if you are near graduating and not sure what next, may be a good place to start looking http://www.acdi-cida.gc.ca/internships
Luba Reshitnyk, Masters Candidate from the Marine Protected Areas Research Group (MPARG) in UVic’s Department of Geography. Luba, an avid ocean-lover, researcher and overall curious person, will be one of your Ocean Student Society (OSS) bloggers. She’ll be writing to you about many things ocean-related. News topics in the media, the amazing biology behind mantis shrimp eyes, life as a grad student, regular ocean-themed musical recommendations and much more!
Ellyn Davidson, BSc. Biology and Psychology combined. I am currently working with Ocean Networks Canada as the Education Coordinator for Post-Secondary and get the amazing privilege and responsibly of helping to support and facilitate the Ocean Student Society (among many other educationally focused tasks!). I will be blogging about club activities to make sure that all members are kept up-to-date about what is going on!
The OSS is always looking for more contributors to this blog. Please email the club at firstname.lastname@example.org if you are interested.
