The Ocean Students Society (OSS) is made up of a unique group of students, grad and undergrads, from different faculties across the UVic campus who are passionate about the ocean.
The OSS aims to:
- Facilitate networking opportunities for students interested in the ocean.
- Increase ocean literacy through public education and outreach.
- Aid in the professional and academic development of its members.
By sharing scientific knowledge through interdisciplinary communication and collaboration, the OSS hopes to aid in the professional and academic development of students. It will also work to support a healthier ocean and create a more ocean literate public.
The OSS is sponsored by Ocean Networks Canada, a not-for-profit society responsible for the management, development, promotion and commercialization of the VENUS and NEPTUNE Canada networks.
Ocean Networks Canada supports the growth and development of the club as well as the growth and development of ocean science at UVic.
